Principal’s Message

At Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Primary School we are truly blessed to be a part of the rich tapestry of a multicultural community that is Mt Pritchard.

Our teaching and learning culture expects excellence, and this is inherent in all our learning experiences. We acknowledge that every student is unique and blessed with different gifts and our individualised teaching approach encourages all students to achieve their full potential. Every child is engaged, supported and challenged to discover and foster a love of learning.

My school is committed to the Catholic faith and values and I’m actively committed to continue the work of The Sisters of Charity.

I welcome a strong partnership with staff, parents, the parish and wider community to nurture the full development of each child intellectually and spiritually.

I feel privileged to be in the role of Principal of OLMC, and I invite you to browse the website to gain an insight into what makes my school a dynamic place of learning.

History
our history

In 1953, the Mt Pritchard Catholic school was opened, and was known as St Peter’s Primary School. Due to the increase in population, in 1960, Mt Pritchard became a separate parish. A proper Catholic Church was opened in 1962 next to the school. By 1963, the name of the parish and the school had been changed to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Primary School Mt Pritchard. Since this date, the original church and school have been replaced by modern facilities.

Charism

The staff in 1953, consisted of two sisters from Sisters of Charity and they have continued to have an active involvement in the development of the school. We are proud of our deep connection to the Sisters of Charity and we aspire to share the love, tenderness, and concern of Christ with all whom we meet, seeing Christ in everyone.

Mission
our history

Inspired by our motto ‘strong in faith’ and in partnership with our parents and parish community, our commitment is to:

  • educate our students in Catholic beliefs, values, practices and traditions, show them the face of Jesus and nurture their relationship with God
  • provide quality education that challenges and supports our students to strive for excellence
  • value and respect the dignity and uniqueness of each child
  • be a welcoming, inclusive community, living and celebrating our story.

Vision

At the centre of our school is the belief that Jesus came to teach us how to live.

In this tradition, we begin by recognising the presence of Christ in each person and by showing care for all members of our school within a safe and secure community. We continue to strive for academic excellence within an environment underpinned by gospel values.
